Different kinds of granite countertops

As far as granite countertops go, slab granite countertops are the best. However, before you buy them there are a few things that you need to know. Do not even dare to dream of installing these countertops by yourself if you are not a professional installer with specialist tools and services at his beck and call. If you actually go ahead and try to do the job yourself you can be damn sure that you would end up cracking the lovely surface and thus waste plenty of money in the process. Normally there are definite rates for installing these at your home but a lot also depends on the ease that the installer have in getting the material to your home.

If you are importing exotic granite it would cost a lot more than what would be the case if the granite was sourced locally. This will be reflected in the costs of installation as well. In case a few seams do not bother you, you can always go for modular granite. This kind of granite is made from smaller slabs and are cut to pieces as per the requirement of the kitchen, bathroom or wherever else you are going to put it.

The beauty of modular granite is that they can be used to create any kind of kitchen style that suits your fancy. In fact, if you are experienced at doing things yourself then you can install these by yourself as well. Compared to natural slab granite they are three or four times cheaper. Their only disadvantage is a seam or two – they cannot be avoided at any cost. These countertops are quite big though and this means that there are not as many seams as you would get in the granitetile countertops. Granite tile countertops are perhaps the most inexpensive form of countertops out there.
